-� February 18, 1974 <br /> Page 1 <br /> The first meeting of the Parks, Recreation and Environment Commission <br /> was called to order at 8:00 P.M. on February 18, 1974. <br /> Mr. McLean, Council liaison, introduced the members.Present; 5 ; absent - <br /> 2. <br /> Mr. McLean read the rough draft of the proposed Ordinance supporting <br /> this commission, noting that this commission will exist and act as an <br /> advisory board in the same manner as the Planning and Zoning Board. <br /> They will be provided with the Comprehensive Land Use Plan to be used <br /> as overall background for projected city development. There will also <br /> be copies of the maps and the display write up that was approved by <br /> the Metro Council. The next step involves hearings and adoption <br /> by the City Council on recommendation from the Planning and Zoning <br /> Board. <br /> They will also be provided with the current County Open Space Resolution <br /> and maps as background on the Open Space 'status. A- meeting with the <br /> Anoka County Commissions and the City Council has been scheduled for <br /> March 6, 1974 to discuss the differences in the County and the City <br /> Open Space maps. There is approximately 2500 acres of land involved <br /> in the plan with a joint resolution calling for a one time Open 8apce <br /> acquisition of land in Lino Lakes. <br /> Mr. Jim i�lcGeary was elected as Chairman for a one year term; Mr. Frank <br /> Reach was elected as Vice-Chairman for a one year term. <br /> The following appointments were set up at this meeting. <br /> Mr. Jerry Clausen and Mrs. Betty Kendal - Sunrise Park Development. <br /> Mr. Donald Kena and Mr. Frank Reach - Village Hall Property <br /> Mr. Jim McGeary - Lino Park Development - also liaison to the Lions <br /> Club on the development of this Park. <br /> Mrs. Sylvia Brisson and Mrs. Geraldine LeTourneau - Long Range Park Plan. <br /> The Board set the goals of having the Sunrise Park and Village Hail <br /> property plans completed in six months; the Lino Park Plan completed <br /> in sixty days; and the overall Long Range Plan completed in one year. <br /> Mr. McLean will provide Park budget €igurea for operating and develop- <br /> ment costs for 1974. <br />
