We haven 't reached all of you personally and wanted to do so ASAP so
you too can field questions from Rice Lake staff and students & share your,
idea: and thoughts with us ! This is our Effort to fill you in on all the
details to date of our Rice Lake November Art Gallery Show. The July
mailings have indicated this as a "joint" venture with Rice Lake SNAG &
Rice Lake Art Adventure Committee. Mr. Kelley has been our main contact.
with SNAG since June, although Allison Bergman has graciously agreed to
also receive our mailings and assist us in doing much of the " legwork" and
brainstorming for ideas on SNAC behalf.
The theme is "Art & the Environment . " The idea is to get kids thinking
about all the ways we can tie these two together & how vital they both are
to us everyday. Our goal is to have every child participate .;y submitting
an original piece of art ( song lyrics, poems, woodcarving, painting,
jewelry, drawing, decorated cake , photograph, . . . ) reflecting our theme -
tying art & the environment together in any manner they choose (using
environment as: inspiration; mediums to create on or from; subje-t.
matter•, . . . ) .
Each child who completes an entry & turns it in for the Nov. Gal__ _ ; _: ,J
will have two tickets at the bottom of Their entry form. One is to,,_ a
grand prize package (we 're working on it- maybe Brainerd trip`' ) and
another, to put in a "pot" for lessons/prizes of their choice to enhance
their art or their appreciation/knowledge of the environment . The Art
Adventure people are recruiting help from Community Education: and junior _.
Senior High Staff for ideas/contacts for arts—related lessons prizes. To
this point , we have received donations of karate sessions, piano lesson .
a xylophone , dance lessons, painting class, backstage C.H. S. drama, C. H.
