August 17, 1994 To: All Recreation Opportunity Providers From: Marty Asleson, Parks and Recreation Coordinator, City of Lino Lakes RE: Meeting Concerning Possible Coordinated Efforts Between Cities Concerning Recreation Accessibility Efforts The City of Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department is looking at the possibility of joining efforts with the surrounding areas of recreation providers to provide quality recreation opportunities for persons with disabilities. Currently Lino Lakes employs a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to assist in equal recreation opportunities for persons with disabilities. We are planning a brainstorming/information sharing meeting for August 31, at 7:00 P.M. The meeting will be at the Lino Lakes Park, Recreation and Forestry Building, 7204 Lake Drive. We encourage you to attend and bring any plans for the upcoming year, and if you know someone who might be interested in attending, please feel free to invite them too. Some ideas for you to think about are activities for children, teens, adults and seniors with disabilities that bring together people from Blaine, Circle Pines, Lino Lakes, Forest Lake, Forest Lake Township, Hugo, Columbus Township, Centerville, Shoreview, Lexington, City of White Bear Lake, White Bear Lake Township, Centennial Community Services and School District 916. Service duplication is not necessary when we can all work together to provide the most opportunity by joining our resources.
