s,
AGENDA ITEM
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Marty Asleson
DATE: 8/29/94
TOPIC: Shorview Building Availability
BACKGROUND
A few years ago the Park Board accepted a park building donation
from the City of Shorview. The City of Shorview has another
building that the are replacing with an upgrade in Bucher Park,
just south of Ash (County Road J) Street. Jerry Haffman, the
Director of Parks and Recreation from Shorview recently called to
ask if the City of Lino Lakes would be interested in it. This
building is similar to the one in Birch Park.
The last building that we moved from Sitzer Park cost $2600.00 to
move. There were additional costs for slab and footings that were
needed in the poor soils at Birch Park. The concrete slab for this
project came to $5522, and the footings were another $3260.
Additional costs included sewer and water installation at $4364,
electrical installation at $2.30/ft, gas installation at $3.50/ft,
and engineering costs at about $1000.00.
Keep in mind that if we selected a site with stable ground we would
probably not need footings, and we probably can eliminate most
engineering costs if we used the same footing and foundation plan.
The building is also closer to Lino Lakes then the last building
was.
The City of Shorview stated that there is no real hurry on this
since they are building their new shelter on an adjacent site.
OPTIONS
1. Make a recommendation to acquire the building and proceed with
moving quotes.
2. Do not pursue this any further.
RECOMMENDATION
As per Park Board wishes
