Board that a donor may wish to fund. Consideration would have to
be given at that time.
The dollars that the VFW donated, $5400.00, again were to be used
for Playgrounds and the Disability program. I apologize for not
bringing this to the Park Board first as a first right of refusal.
I, nor the Friends of the Parks wish to make this a negative or
controversial issue. The only thing the friends are trying to do
is create a community based Parks and Recreation support group. I
discussed this matter at the last Friends of the Parks Board
meeting and they don't care where the dollars go. If you wish they
will write you out a check for $5400. 00 for the first project you
have, and we will arrange to have the future donations go into the
dedicated park fund. They feel that they exist to support the Lino
Lakes Parks and Recreation system. My initial reaction and
reasoning in the short time that I had to make a decision was that
this was another donation to the Parks and that it made sense at
that time to place the money in the non-profit that is set up to do
this. I did not look at it as two pots of money and the
traditional deposit of the VFW money, and for this I am sorry.
I have asked Jacquelyne Farm and Martha Walmsley to attend the Park
Board meeting to discuss this and the progress of the Friends of
the Parks.
