CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> RESOLUTION NO . 09 - 90 <br /> RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING EARTH DAY 1990 <br /> WHEREAS , Lino Lakes prides itself on its quality of life for <br /> area residents and businesses and is interested in working to <br /> improve and maintain the beauty of the area; arid, <br /> WHEREAS , residents should be encouraged to recognize the <br /> environmental impact on our community of their daily lives by <br /> becoming environmentally responsible consumers , conserving <br /> energy, increasing recycling efforts , and. promoting <br /> environmental responsibility in our communities ; and, <br /> WHEREAS , Earth Day 1990 is a bi-partisan twentieth <br /> anniversary global celebration of the original Earth Day in <br /> 1970 and is designed to raise environmental consciousness and <br /> encourage people at the local level to take an active part ; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS , Earth Day on April 21 will launch the "Decade of <br /> the Environment" which is a long-term commitment to building <br /> a safe, just and sustainable planet and includes a broad <br /> cross-section of society in creating support for <br /> environmentally sound actions ; and , <br /> WHEREAS , The President and Congress of the United States and <br /> many other members of the private and public sectors are <br /> supporting the concepts of Earth Day and the hundreds of <br /> community projects that will take place around that date; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS , a local group of community leaders have formed a <br /> task force called Earthkeepers , with Anoka County <br /> Commissioner Margaret Langfeld as honorary chair, to organize <br /> a clean up and beautification project along roads in the area <br /> including Lake drive in Lino Lakes plus Lexington Avenue, <br /> 95th Avenue Northeast and Hodgson Road; and, <br /> WHEREAS , Earthkeepers will conduct the clean up in <br /> conjunction with Earth Day and Arbor Day activities ; and, <br /> WHEREAS , Earthkeepers needs support and volunteers to <br /> successfully complete the project : <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City of Lino Lakes <br /> recognizes and supports the Earthkeepers clean up project and <br /> "IN encourages residents to volunteer in order to make the <br /> project. successful . <br />
