PARK BOARD MINUTES February 5, 1990 smooth out the ice. The city is building a machine like this and by next week will be taking it out to Reshanau Lake to experiment with it . 2. UPDATE ON NORTH METRO RECREATION TASK FORCE The task force is still waiting for one city to respond to the task force as to their opinion of the joint powers agreement . Then the task force will meet again. 3. INDOOR ICE ARENA A committee was developed to get this project off to a good start . Ben Benson is a member of this committee. Don Volk hopes that Ben will be at the March Park Board meeting to discuss this issue. The developers have not yet reached a decision as to where this ice arena should be built . The school district is involved, although Don feels that if the ice arena is constructed on school land, the future recreational committee should be responsible for the comings and goings of the ice arena. Don would like to see this go on city park lands . He feels that the ice arena is a recreational activity and should be on park land. 4. UNITED COMMUNITY NETWORK INC. — TEEN CENTER The park board received a copy of a letter from United Community Network, Inc. This letter, signed by Gloria Brownlee asks for support by donation from the park board for development of a teen center serving the Centennial School District area. After discussion by the board it was decided that Gloria Brownlee should be invited to the park board to speak on this issue. NEW BUSINESS Bill Nissen informed the board that the next meeting of the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Advisory Committee will be in March. Ron Cox, Landscaped Architect , attends these meetings and Bill asked the board members if they have any issues they would like for him to bring up at this meeting. Don Volk suggested the committee discuss ski trails in the regional park. Ray Johnson would like land use in the county park to be extended. He would like this discussed at the meeting.
