RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMING ISSUES:The following identifies potential impacts to current and future recreational programming: • Locating the building at Country Lakes would allow for more extensive use of the beach area for programmed swimming, skating, and other recreational activities. It could also be used for community picnics and events, although only to a limited degree given the nature and size of the building. • Since locating the building at Birch Park would serve the same general purpose as the temporary building, it would not affect programming to a large degree, although it would provide more space and perhaps additional opportunities for summer programs. PARK&RECREATION BOARD COMMENTS:The following is a summary of the comments made by the Board: • Board member Ray Johnson felt that another negative attribute related to locating the building at Country Lakes Park is that a wood structure such as this would be subject to more vandalism than other types of buildings. PARK&RECREATION BOARD ACTION/POSITION STATEMENT.•The following consensus was reached by the Board: • Given the conditions stated above, a consensus was reached that the building should replace the temporary trailer currently located at Birch Park.The building is to be located in consideration of its long-term uses,including the potential for future expansion. • Concurrently, a consensus was reached to move the temporary trailer over to Country Lakes Park to serve the skating area.It is expected that it will be replaced at some point in the future when the park is further developed.
