MEMORANDUM
,rr%
TO: All Park Board Members
FROM: Marty Asleson
DATE: January 3, 1992
SUBJECT: 1993 LCMR RFP's
The Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources has sent out
requests for proposals for projects designed to help maintain and
enhance Minnesota's Natural Resources. These proposals are for
projects to be implemented from July 1992 to June 1995. There's $29
million dollars available for this program.
There are several categories to be funded including recreation.
Within this recreation category, funding will be considered for the
acquisition of trails for ground use including biking, and for
persons with disabilities, and developing a network of recreational
bicycle trails, and several other issues. The application process
is quite extensive and the deadline is February 7th, 1992.
There are several areas, particularly in light of our comprehensive
plan, where we may be able to capitalize on this issue. Keep in
mind that we have a requirement to pave all of the dedicated trails
on the south developing projects, and at the new school site. There
is also a need for an underpass at this area. The thought was to
touch base with Jeff Schoenbauer since we are now actively planning
these trails, to help us to put it together.
