CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> PARR BOARD MEETING <br /> MONDAY AUGUST 2, 1993 <br /> involve coordinating a playground raising time for the <br /> neighborhood, and site renovation this Fall. <br /> D. Council Approval of Expenditures - At their July 23rd meeting <br /> the City Council approved the Park Board's request for funds to be <br /> taken from the Dedicated Park Fund as follows: <br /> 1. $1681 as requested by Tom Jensen to finish his Eagle Scout <br /> Project, a half court basketball court at Arena Acres Park. <br /> 2. $5000 for the purpose of acquiring legal council for the <br /> development of finance options and the securing of land for <br /> an athletic complex as identified in the comprehensive <br /> plan. <br /> 3 . $300 to purchase a volleyball net and standard for <br /> LaMotte Park as an alternative play option to playing ball <br /> for those children who wish to use the park. <br /> Previous expenditure approval of Dedicated Park Funds by the <br /> Council in the past year has included: $34,000 for the trail <br /> underpass at Rice Lake Elementary School, $18,000 each for <br /> development of Leonard and Bradley and Woods of Baldwin Lake Mini <br /> Parks, $15,000 for 1993 trail overlays, and $4000 for the Country <br /> Lakes Park master plan. <br /> E. Athletic Complex Property Update - It was decided at the last <br /> meeting that staff should proceed with plans to identify <br /> alternative sites for acquisition for an athletic complex as <br /> identified in the comprehensive plan. It appears that we have <br /> waited too long to pursue the purchase of the property initially <br /> identified. Staff has located five alternative sites all south of <br /> Birch Street. <br /> Marty Asleson showed slides of four of these sites, all outside the <br /> MUSA boundary. He has discussed the selection process with the City <br /> Administrator and City Attorney, Bill Hawkins. When the time comes, <br /> Mr. Hawkins can develop the financing options and secure the <br /> parcel. <br /> Marty suggested putting together a citizen based committee to sort <br /> out site options. The board agreed that the same committee that <br /> worked on the comprehensive plan would be a good selection. Marty <br /> will make contact and get maps out to them. George Lindy would like <br /> this to be an agenda item for the next meeting and then regular <br /> follow ups of the status of the group. <br /> John Baumann questioned if City Hall Park was ever considered as a <br /> -^. site for the athletic complex.
