n AGENDA ITEM
STAFF ORIGINATOR Marty Asleson
DATE July 7, 1993
TOPIC A-3 Athletic Complex Update
The A-3 athletic complex is discussed on page 6-76 of our
comprehensive plan. This is a 50+ acre land area off of Holly
Drive and 12th Ave. that should address our land needs for the
immediate future for organized sport activities. This land belongs
to the Whitcombs. The Whitcombs heard that we had identified their
property for park and called me a couple of months ago. I met with
them to discuss our comprehensive plans. At that time we needed to
communicate with the City Council concerning this issue and that it
was a priority as set forth by the Park Board. This was done and
authorization was given to start some preliminary approaches to
1 land purchase.
I have been talking to Mary Vasky, our Finance Director about
helping us with this. We will have to develop a budget for this
process. As of this time we have not reached that point.
Since the meeting that I had with the Whitcombs there has been an
agent of the Whitcombs, investigating the prospects of a development
on this land. There has been some inquires at City Hall.
Y3 +`'v'•'T.
14
1. Develop a budget and allocate monies for acquisition options.
2. Wait for further progress
Since we do not have an estimate to accomplish this task,
establish a preliminary budget of $2000 to enable us to move
forward.
