AGENDA ITOLD <br /> STAFF ORIGINATOR Marty Asleson <br /> DATE June 30,1993 <br /> TOPIC N-8, Rice Lakes Estates <br /> This is an update on the progress of the proposed cooperative park <br /> in the Rice Lakes Estates/Circle pines Baldwin Park area. <br /> Recently, we were able to acquire a parcel of land off of Blue <br /> Heron Drive through tax forfeiture. This parcel is the first lot to <br /> the north on Blue Heron Drive and is zoned commercial. <br /> I called Jim Keinath, City Administrator from Circle Pines to let <br /> him know that we have been getting periodic calls concerning the <br /> status of the cooperative park, and to ask him where they were with <br /> the land purchase/transfer(abandoned state right of way) . I also <br /> wanted to let him know that we might be looking at the commercial <br /> area as an option. <br /> The parcel of commercial land that we readily have available is not <br /> particularly in an ideal place since it is directly adjacent to Hwy <br /> 49, but it is available. I believe that the City of Circle Pines <br /> still believes the cooperative park to be a mutually beneficial <br /> situation and is still worth pursuing. Please see attached letter <br /> from Jim Keinath. <br /> In 1990 we had written a proposed lease agreement concerning the <br /> cooperative property. We had also done an appraisal of the two <br /> residential lots that are classified as park. The appraised value <br /> of these lots was $21,000 each. The thought was to sell the lots <br /> and use the money to develop the park in a manner that might be <br /> complimentary to 'both cities. <br /> I '„think this is worth sitting out a while longer; however not 2 <br /> years longer <br /> This report was intended to be an informational update.
