AGENDA ITOLD
STAFF ORIGINATOR Marty Asleson
DATE June 30,1993
TOPIC N-8, Rice Lakes Estates
This is an update on the progress of the proposed cooperative park
in the Rice Lakes Estates/Circle pines Baldwin Park area.
Recently, we were able to acquire a parcel of land off of Blue
Heron Drive through tax forfeiture. This parcel is the first lot to
the north on Blue Heron Drive and is zoned commercial.
I called Jim Keinath, City Administrator from Circle Pines to let
him know that we have been getting periodic calls concerning the
status of the cooperative park, and to ask him where they were with
the land purchase/transfer(abandoned state right of way) . I also
wanted to let him know that we might be looking at the commercial
area as an option.
The parcel of commercial land that we readily have available is not
particularly in an ideal place since it is directly adjacent to Hwy
49, but it is available. I believe that the City of Circle Pines
still believes the cooperative park to be a mutually beneficial
situation and is still worth pursuing. Please see attached letter
from Jim Keinath.
In 1990 we had written a proposed lease agreement concerning the
cooperative property. We had also done an appraisal of the two
residential lots that are classified as park. The appraised value
of these lots was $21,000 each. The thought was to sell the lots
and use the money to develop the park in a manner that might be
complimentary to 'both cities.
I '„think this is worth sitting out a while longer; however not 2
years longer
This report was intended to be an informational update. We do have
the option of developing the tax forfeit area or waiting a while
longer.
0 w
Wait
