Recommendations for the 1988 Summer Recreation Program <br /> It is recommended that: <br /> 1. Special Events: Hold special events in eight major areas: <br /> WbTwins Game Children's Museum <br /> Valley Fair f MN's Science Museum and <br /> (c) Rollerskating Omnitheatre <br /> (d) Old Log for Seniors (g) Trip to Gibb's Farm <br /> (h) Reptile Show for young people <br /> 2. Vertical Scheduling: Due to anticipated CETA reductions assign schedule <br /> with the following changes: <br /> (a) more morning activities <br /> �b� more evening 'activities <br /> c spread afternoon classes out <br /> 3. In-service Training: Since more college students are being hired <br /> (and less teachers) for our programs, it is <br /> recommended that we have a 2 day in-service <br /> program next year to prepare these people. <br /> 4. Publicity - (Media Blitz): We need a (1/2 to 3/4) time position for a <br /> greater coverage of happenings and activities <br /> to report on our recreation program. This is <br /> due to the fact that we .must cover three <br /> media areas and three newspapers. <br /> 5. Expand Summer Recreation (New Directions) : <br /> (a) more evening activities for Junior High students <br /> (b) have a fun run or marathon <br /> (c) more single type of events - tennis, archery, golf tourn. , <br /> open track meet, etc- <br /> (d) bring in recreation events (i .e. , puppet shows, plays , demon- <br /> stration type events, animal shows to school situations. <br /> (e) concentrate an more adult type activities for 1988. <br /> 6. More fields (softball) needed for all ages: <br /> Talk to community concerning the need for additional fields(Slaine) <br /> 7. Lon er registration period for all events: <br /> eginning May. 18 throughfirst week in Mine, 1988. <br /> 8. Floor Hockey: Divide this class into an intermediate and beginning <br /> level . <br />
