PARK BOARD <br /> July 6 , 1987 <br /> Page Three <br /> MOTION: Mr. Ken Johnson moved to recommend to Council total elimina- <br /> tion of the BMX track at Lino Park , that the area be leveled and <br /> reseeded. Mr . Baumann seconded the motion which carried unanimously . <br /> AUTHORIZE BIDS FOR GRADING OF "SCHOOL PROPERTY PARK" <br /> Mr. Volk stated that with negotiations now complete for the leasing <br /> of the school property along Birch Street for use as a park , the <br /> Board needs toconsider preparing the property for the uses planned . <br /> The Board did not make a formal motion , but the general consensus <br /> was that Mr . Volk is authorized to collect bids for the grading <br /> required to prepare the school property park . <br /> PROGRESS REPORTS ON LINO LAKES CITY PARKS <br /> Mr. Volk reported the following progress : <br /> Country Lakes Park - Coverage of the grand opening of Country Lakes <br /> Park has now appeared in both the Quad and Circulating Pines papers . <br /> Very few problems have arisen since the grand opening . Posts have <br /> been installed in the walkway areas to eliminate vehicle traffic <br /> The beach is used quite heavily . City crews are planned to "drag" <br /> the beach area for weed removal . More trash barrels are planned <br /> for the park . The beach area will be signed "No Pets in Beach Area" . <br /> Ken Johnson suggested some kind of insect control be considered. <br /> Sunrise Park - Volleyball courts under construction for completion <br /> in 10 days . Warming house addition under construction for completion <br /> during the next month. <br /> Lino Park - New tot lot playground equipment has been erected (need <br /> a few more days work for completion) . Equipment is being used and <br /> is appreciated by park users . <br /> Baldwin Lake Courts - The owner of Baldwin Lake Courts has been <br /> on active reserve for a couple of weeks , so Mr . Volk has been unable <br /> to contact him with regard to completion of the tot lot at Baldwin <br /> Lake Courts . This lot was planned for July completion and Mr . Volk <br /> will continue to try to make contact and get a commitment from the <br /> owner. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Mr. Volk reported that Anoka County is negotiating with Lino Lakes <br /> to do some excavation 'on the rear of City Hall park to create a <br /> holding pond for wildlife preservation to replace the habitat being <br /> destroyed due to the Main Street improvement project . <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Mr. Volk reported that the Centerville Lake homeowners are forming <br /> an association and the Park Board may be addressed in the near future <br /> with regard to the creation of this association . <br />
