PARK BOARD July 6 , 1987 Page Three MOTION: Mr. Ken Johnson moved to recommend to Council total elimina- tion of the BMX track at Lino Park , that the area be leveled and reseeded. Mr . Baumann seconded the motion which carried unanimously . AUTHORIZE BIDS FOR GRADING OF "SCHOOL PROPERTY PARK" Mr. Volk stated that with negotiations now complete for the leasing of the school property along Birch Street for use as a park , the Board needs toconsider preparing the property for the uses planned . The Board did not make a formal motion , but the general consensus was that Mr . Volk is authorized to collect bids for the grading required to prepare the school property park . PROGRESS REPORTS ON LINO LAKES CITY PARKS Mr. Volk reported the following progress : Country Lakes Park - Coverage of the grand opening of Country Lakes Park has now appeared in both the Quad and Circulating Pines papers . Very few problems have arisen since the grand opening . Posts have been installed in the walkway areas to eliminate vehicle traffic The beach is used quite heavily . City crews are planned to "drag" the beach area for weed removal . More trash barrels are planned for the park . The beach area will be signed "No Pets in Beach Area" . Ken Johnson suggested some kind of insect control be considered. Sunrise Park - Volleyball courts under construction for completion in 10 days . Warming house addition under construction for completion during the next month. Lino Park - New tot lot playground equipment has been erected (need a few more days work for completion) . Equipment is being used and is appreciated by park users . Baldwin Lake Courts - The owner of Baldwin Lake Courts has been on active reserve for a couple of weeks , so Mr . Volk has been unable to contact him with regard to completion of the tot lot at Baldwin Lake Courts . This lot was planned for July completion and Mr . Volk will continue to try to make contact and get a commitment from the owner. OLD BUSINESS Mr. Volk reported that Anoka County is negotiating with Lino Lakes to do some excavation 'on the rear of City Hall park to create a holding pond for wildlife preservation to replace the habitat being destroyed due to the Main Street improvement project . NEW BUSINESS Mr. Volk reported that the Centerville Lake homeowners are forming an association and the Park Board may be addressed in the near future with regard to the creation of this association .
