Park Board
April 2, 1984
n - page three -
LARA
Representatives from the Lino Area Recreational Association had re-
quested time before the Park Board to discuss the storage building
they had constructed ,in Lino Park. The building' is completed with the
exception of the inside. The men requested assistance from the Park
Board for this completion.
This building is used to store athletic equipment - bats, b-alls,
helmets , football and soccer equipment , etc. At the present time the
equipment is either on the floor of the building or stored in someone's
garage. The Association asked the Park Board for funds to install
4' wide shelves around three sides of the building.
When asked about the cost , the representatives thought it would cost
around $400.00. The general consensus of the Park Board was they have
no problems with helping this organization with this cost but they felt
the estimate was high and asked them to get a quote and put their
information and request in a letter.
Mr. Bohjanen, Council Representative to this Board, said the VFW gives
the City $300.00 each month to be used in the City ' s Park. He felt it
was possible to designate this money to be spent for the purpose of
these shelves. Mr. Bohjanen suggested this information be presented
to the VFW for their consideration.
OLD BUSINESS
Mr.Schumacher had included in the packets the 5 - 10 - 15 year Park
Plans. He explained that he felt the Park Board should be aware of
the provisions in the Comprehensive Plan as to the Park requirements.
He felt the Park Board was in line with the Plan with the exception
of planning for a park on the East side of the City. He also pointed
out that the Council had rejected the Planning and Zoning requirements
for a tot lot in Rice Lake Estates and had recommended cooperation
with the City of Circle Pines in developing Baldwin Park for use of
the residents of that area.
Mr. Arntzen asked if the 5 year CIP had been approved and MR.
Schumacher said it would be presented to the Council at the last
meeting of this month.
BIKE PATHS
Mr. Schumacher pointed out that the application had been forwarded
to MnDOT for their consideration and as yet there had been no informatio
received by this City.
Mr. R. Johnson asked if there had been any information received at the
offices in reference to the upgrading of Highway #49 from North Road
to the Freeway and Mr. Schumacher said, No.
