r
Other Recreation Updates:
The Parks and Recreation Department currently ranks 1 lth in the state of Minnesota for
certifying coaches through the National Youth Sports Coaches Association. In
comparison, Minnesota has 86 chapters. (Yahoo!)
Through the hard work of a resident named Barry Rice, the Parks and Recreation
Department has received 250 free kites to use at our discretion. We are planning a Kite
Day for Saturday June 1, 1996 at Rice Lake School from 9:30-11:30am. Children and
adults may come to Rice Lake Soccer Fields to receive there free kite, get some treats and
meet our summer Playground staff. This is an exciting opportunity to combine a fun
activity and an open house setting for people to feel more comfortable sending their
children to the playgrounds.
For the Parks Board information the number of reservation and iquires for the summer
baseball and soccer field use this summer is up dramatically. The Parks and Recreation
Department is consistently being reminded that there are not enough fields to
accommodate the necessary numbers of participants in these programs.
REF:pbmay96
