x Lino Lakes Park Board Meeting - 5/6/96 Good Evening! I'm Pat Huelman, my address is 570 Lonesome Pine Trail. I have been asked to speak on behalf of a large group of Park Grove residents. We have signatures representing 24 addresses on a the letter that you shaould have received from Marty. Many of these homeowners are here tonight. I don't normally read a statement, but tonight I want to make sure my points are accurate, clear, and as brief as possible. I would like to begin by saying we are not opposed to a neighborhood park. In fact we all look forward to using this park with our children and meeting our new neighbors. We all built homes in this area knowing that someday this would be a "neighborhood park". However, we were also told that we would have a voice in what went into the park and where things would be located, and were specifically told that those most adversely affected by the park would be given a significant voice. Our biggest complaint has the been the process that has been used to this point. It has caused headaches and stomachaches for alot of people -- and I suspect Marty has had more than his fair share as well. The process and ^ end product have end up pitting neighbors and neighborhoods against one another. Point 1. I think the best way to get at the heart of our concerns is to contrast the original plan with the current concept plan. There were some huge shifts that are significantly changing the nature of the park and the impact on our neighborhood. Original schematic plan A defined primary entry and parking off a major arterial road A central core with up to five equal entry points Activities that would attract vehicles were close to parking Open area reserved for larger activities, informal ball field & general recreation area New concept plan Almost all of the major activities were moved to the north and west area. And if that wasn't enough At last meeting discussion of picnic shelter on the northwest corner and At meeting before that there was even mention of moving the skating to the pond
