AGENDA ITEM
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Marty Asleson
DATE: April 30, 1996
TOPIC: Trail Committee Resolution Update
BACKGROUND
Last year the Park and Recreation Board sent a resolution to the
city council establishing a trail committee for the City of Lino
Lakes. This resolution was past on November 2, 1995.
We went to the city council on February 23rd with a list of trail
committee recommendations. At this time the council wished to
clarify a few issues in regards to the resolution before
appointing trail committee members. Please find attached a copy
of this resolution.
The questions that needed to be clarified concerned the staggered
lengths and terms of appointment and how the reporting system is
to occur.
The resolution reads "The committee shall consist of (5) members
appointed by the city council for three-year terms on a colander
basis except that the council may select members for a one or two
year term on an initial basis in order to stagger the terms of
the members. " It was suggested that the terms be 3 years and 2
years, or 2-2-1. I will let you decide and who should these
people be?
The other issue concerns who the committee would tender a report
to in item 4. It may be better to have this committee tender a
report to the Park and Recreation Board.
OPTIONS
1. Set the staggered committee members at 3 years and 2 years,
or other as the board sees fit. Have the committee report to the
Park and Recreation Board.
2. Other options as per the Park and Recreation Boards wishes.
3 . refer back to staff for further consideration
RECOMMENDATION
option 1
