A MEMORANDUM
Date: March 27, 1996
From: Marty Asleson
To: Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Board
Subject: Survey Questions
My thoughts on survey questions:
1. Sustainability in the natural resource portion of the
recreation experience, ie does the additional expense of land
acquisition for the purpose of buffer strips and greenway
projects have funding importance. r iz
. ^, L^vG itiaa.twt L` S(:w't ,C(.• ..),/) J rj4% -Z t/Ci f'[
2. Expanded recreation program needs.
• Teens, teen center, programming support
ADA, paying a fair share of a consortium based
program.
Youth programming in general, junior and senior high
Seniors, ex. , senior softball, volleyball, basketball
etc. leagues.
Other
3. Open Space
Athletic Complex, Funding for, site, development
funding methods, taxpayer costs, willingness to fund raise for
development. Just received word of funding recommendation for
our Athletic Complex from DNR to State Legislature (land
acquisition) Is there a support for funding this comp plan issue.
Neighborhood parks, Park site amenities--Trails,
Hard court(BB cts, tennis cts) , picnic shelters or open picnic
areas, replacement of deteriorating playground equipment, or
additional play structure(equipment) , informal ball fields, turf
quality(natural vs.cultured) rinks, plantings, benches,
fountains, v-ball, other. Prioritize and determine willingness
to financially support.
Ice rink facilities, use of ponds vs. formalized
skating facilities. How much pond use is occurring in the
.neighborhoods _on a self use basis.
Trails, support for additional monies for trail
development. Also, it has been indicated that trails through the
regional: park are a desirable thing. How do you feel these
trails should be paid for given the funding for these trails is
appropriated through Metropolitan Council and monies may not -be
available for at least 5 years?
1. Wait for funding.
2. Budget city dollars to install trail sections.
3. other ideas
