f
APPLICATION REQUEST FORM
Local Grants Program
Applicant City of Lino Lakes County Anoka
Contact Person Marty Asleson
Title Park, Recreation and Forestry Coordinator
Address 7204 Lake Drive, Lino Lakes, Minnesota 55014
Phone Number (during normal working hours) (612) 780-1885 , Ext. 181
Project Name A-3 Athletic Complex
Program (check the appropriate program(s) and provide an estimated total cost per project):
Outdoor Recreation Grant Program $125,000. Natural and Scenic Area Grant Program
Total Estimated Cost: $850,000. Total Estimated Cost: $
Congressional District (1-8): 6 Legislative District (IA-6713): 51B
Project Description(s): This is an acquisition project to obtain a 82.50 acre area identified
as A-3 in our Park and Recreation Comprehensive Plan. The park is located on the
south side of the city and is bounded by Holly Drive, Country Road J, and the marsh
area known as Cedar Lake. The city has completed a feasability study for this site
including a site search study, the development of a concept plan, a wetland delineation
and survey, and have had the wetland delineation accepted bythe Rice Creek Watershed
Board. We have also conducted a traffic study and a land appraisal.
Population growth and program needs have dictated the need for this park, as well as
the desire to purchase land at an affordable rate outside of the rapidly expanding
MUSA. This park would service the needs for our own programmed rec facilities, as well
as the needs of the youth athletic associations which include children from the
surrounding cities which have also reached a saturation point in their field
availability for a range of sport activities.
Our concept plan includes four youth baseball fields, four combination fields , five
soccer fields , two hockey rinks, a pleasure skating area, play area, a picnic
shelter/warminghouse, a multi purpose building, and parking.
