City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
,. February 5, 1996
Emmerich does not have control of the southern part of the
area.
Brian Wessel, Lino Lakes Community Development Director, was
present to discuss this issue. He showed sector maps and
explained where the MUSA boundary is . He also told the
board that the city is in the preliminary phase of planning
this area. He mentioned what businesses are expected to be
coming into this industrial park. He said the two proposed
projects will realize approximately $30, 000 in dedicated
park fees .
He then went on to say a utility corridor will be going down
the middle of this area and that the city has approved the
construction of a water tower. Engineering is also planning
a new road system through the area that is similar to Apollo
Drive.
Amy wanted to know if there was going to be an overpass in
the greenway system. Marty said it included a pedestrian
lane but it will have to be looked at again in the future .
George thanked Brian for coming before the Park Board and
asked him to keep the board abreast of what is happening in
this development .
Elm Street Middle School Site Development: Marty gave back-
ground information on the Elm Street Middle School Site De-
velopment/Agreement . He met with the architect and superin-
tendent of Centennial School District concerning the joint
use of the new school facility for parks and recreation pur-
poses . The joint use of this facility would be similar to
the agreement that we currently have with the school dis-
trict for Rice Lake Elementary school . This would be bene-
ficial and in line with the goals of our comprehensive plan
for maximizing the recreational opportunity of our residents
through the development of fair and equitable partnerships .
He included the most recent sketch plan for the development
site in the park packets .
He went on to say one of our greatest needs concerns the use
of the indoor facility. The Rice Lake Elementary agreement
allows for a first preference for scheduling the facility
including the gymnasiums after the school districts needs
4
