City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
4"N February 5, 1996
cels about a week before the meeting and made the recommen-
dation to accept the parcel west of Birch Park labeled as
Outlot F. He stated this would be a nice access to the pond
area should we ever decide to use the pond for a skating
area. Marty said this would also raise our acreage in this
park in consideration of the higher acreage need standard
for a neighborhood park. Marty included a map in the mem-
bers packets .
George asked if the city would maintain this parcel . Marty
responded not at this time.
District Park Report: Marty explained the northern cities
have formed a District Park Committee where they get to-
gether on a quarterly basis to share ideas and problem
solve. He learned one issue/concerns all the communities
have in common are trails .
Other New Business: There was no other new business to dis-
cuss .
Joint Cooperative Programs: Marty introduced Janet Bona and
explained she was present to speak on the progress of the
Adaptive Recreation Committee.
He also explained that Janet is the Recreation Program Su-
pervisor for the North Metro Recreation Cooperative and had
approached Lino Lakes on the idea of cooperatively planning
programs that traditionally both entities had problems ac-
quiring adequate numbers to offer such programs . The focus
is trips that require bus transportation. Programs would be
cooperatively planned and advertised as such.
In order to consider this cooperative venture, the League of
Minnesota Cities Attorney was consulted and suggested defin-
ing : responsibility and indemnification and hold harmless
language . Barry drafted an agreement modeled after some
League literature and it was included in the members pack-
ets .
Staff would like the Park Board to consider this new idea
10IN and make a recommendation to proceed or not . He explained
that this had not been reviewed by the Lino Lakes City at-
torney yet .
8
