FINE TUNING OUR DEFINITION OF RECREATION FOR PERSONS WITH <br /> DISABILITIES "Our Vision". <br /> OUR DEFINITIONS: TO PROVIDE CHOICES IN RECREATION AND. <br /> EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR PERSONS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS IN THEIR <br /> COMMUNITIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF SELF-ENRICHMENT, FUN, <br /> RELAXATION, WELLNESS, AND SOCIALIZATION. <br /> THIS IS BASED ON PROGRAMS AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL <br /> POPULATION HAVING THE CAPACITY TO BE ADAPTED TO PERSONS WITH <br /> SPECIAL NEEDS. <br /> 1. Age of program development we wish to project <br /> - decision that our long-term goal would be to program for all <br /> ages; we will concentrate on young adult/ middle school age. <br /> II. DEFINING "WELLNESS"' DECIDING THE IMPORTANCE OF INCLUDING <br /> WELLNESS INTO OUR PROGRAMMING. <br /> 1: Wellness is a `state of being r' <br /> a. Mental- emotional <br /> b. Physical <br /> c. spiritual <br /> 2. Wellness playing a large part / is a result of programming. <br /> a. Maintaining present level of function (possibly increasing) <br /> in mental, physical, and spiritual self. <br /> b. Activity that enhances an individual's state of being by <br /> promoting a feeling of self-fulfillment/enrichment. <br /> Activities that help a person reach personal goals. <br /> * COMMUNITY WELLNESS IS WHEN THE NEEDS OF THE RESIDENTS <br /> ARE HIGHLY RESPECTED <br /> NEXT MEETING - TUESDAY.
