Janet is also the Recreation Program
Supervisor for the North Metro Recreation Cooperative.
Recently, Janet approached us on the idea of cooperatively
planning some programs that traditionally we both may have
problems acquiring adequate numbers to offer such programs. The
focus here are trips that require bus transportation. Programs
would be cooperatively planned and advertized as such.
In order to consider this cooperative venture, the League of
Minnesota Cities Attorney was consulted and suggested defining
responsibility and indemnification and hold harmless language.
Barry Bernstein drafted an agreement modeled after some League
literature. Please find this attached.
Staff would like the Park Board to consider this new idea and
make a recommendation to proceed or not. This has not been
reviewed by our attorney yet.
OPTIONS
1. Review the document and accept the idea of cooperative
programming to the degree discussed.
2. Refer back to staff for further discussion.
RECOMMENDATION
I think this is a good opportunity to begin renewing our
relationship with the surrounding communities in the area of
recreation. It also makes some economic sense. Recommend Option
1.
