City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> November 3, 1997 <br /> 6-9th Grade Kids - Concerns about programs for this <br /> age kids . <br /> Park Liaisons - It is important that each Park Board <br /> member have a couple of parks they are responsible for. <br /> Members should monitor the parks and report to Rick. <br /> Commercial Dedication - Concerns about the money <br /> collected for commercial dedication. Parks do not get <br /> benefit from commercial development . This issue needs <br /> to be addressed. <br /> Police Department - Joe mentioned the Police <br /> Department has a Park Patrol . Rick said he will be <br /> meeting and working with the Police Department . <br /> Town Center/YMCA - It was mentioned that there is a <br /> need for the Park and Recreation Department to be more <br /> involved in this project . The Park Board is very <br /> supportive of the YMCA coming to Lino Lakes . <br /> Rick DeGardner said he agreed with Kim and he thought the Park <br /> Comprehensive Plan and the 20/20 Vision Report are very good. He <br /> has toured the city and some of the parks and he sees there is a <br /> need to look at the possibility of a referendum. He stated <br /> neighborhood parks are for the neighborhoods . He feels when and <br /> if the athletic complex is built it will alleviate some of the <br /> congestion in the neighborhood parks . <br /> Rick said he has received two or three calls from residents in <br /> some of the older parks . There is a need to look at the existing <br /> playground equipment along with what is needed for newer parks . <br /> Rick mentioned teen programming. He said in the 1998 budget <br /> there is a part-time programmer and that person will focus on <br /> teens along with helping Barry with his activities . <br /> As far as park dedication Rick said he will be meeting with Mary <br /> Kay to get a clear understanding of residential and commercial <br /> dedication. He hopes he will bring some information to the next <br /> Park Board meeting on this topic. <br /> Rick urged the members to contact him if they have any questions, <br /> have a problem with one of their parks, or if they see a <br /> 3 <br />
