City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> March 3, 1997 <br /> to come into Lino' s programs, at that level, will we have to cut <br /> the quality of our programs to subsidies them. Barry responded <br /> that we will not run lower quality programs to allow them to <br /> participate. There was discussion on non-resident user fees . <br /> Paul wanted to know if Barry could determine what the non- <br /> resident user fee would be. Joe said non-resident fees will have <br /> to be communicated very well to the other communities . Sharon <br /> asked if the other cities are going to their City Councils for <br /> more money. Marty said he thought so. Marty said maybe there <br /> are grants available for the cities to apply for. <br /> RECREATION UPDATE: <br /> Barry went over the end of season report for the warminghouse <br /> shelters that was included in the packets . Country Lakes Park <br /> was not opened up this year because of the ice conditions . He <br /> added that participation levels were up this year. He said staff <br /> did an outstanding job this year. <br /> He said the March brochure went from 12 pages to 16 pages and <br /> should be in residents homes this week. Spring/summer <br /> registrations are coming in very consistently. Barry said we are <br /> getting alot of t-ball registrations . <br /> Barry said there are more softball teams registered now than <br /> there has been at this time in previous years . He has one spot <br /> left for a co-rec team in soccer three weeks before league is <br /> scheduled to start . <br /> Sharon asked about attendants at rinks and if it is worth <br /> spending the money when only 12 people are in attendance. Barry <br /> said that is a decision the Park Board is going to have to make <br /> but told him his concerns . Barry gave them the reason he always <br /> attempts to open the rinks but may close early. There was also <br /> discussion as to the hours at each rink. George wanted to know <br /> if Birch Park was programmed. Barry said no but there were some <br /> scheduled practices . <br /> Joe asked how much space is needed for t-ball . Paul asked if it <br /> is better to use the infield rather than the outfield. Barry <br /> said yes . There was discussion about the use of the fields at <br /> Rice Lake Elementary and Sunset Oaks . He said it was better to <br /> use Sunset Oaks Park than turn away 60 kids . Barry also <br /> explained the difference between our program and Little League' s <br /> program. Joe asked if there was room at the Park and Recreation <br /> Building for a couple of fields .
