^ City of Lino Lakes
Trails Committee
12/3/96
The 12/3/96 meeting was called to order by Laura Wolf. In attendance were Brian Bourassa,
Laura Wolf, and Marty Asleson. Absent were George Lindy, Ken Johnson, and Ted Brausen.
Brian will be replacement for Jodi Budde.
Since the majority of members were not in attendance, discussion of future trail identification was
postponed until the next meeting. Brian was given a verbal update from previous meetings by
Marty.
Marty reviewed through the findings of the 1996 City of Lino Lakes residential survey. By 69 to
24% margin favored a higher priority on completion of neighborhood park system vs. 64 to 29%
margin favored continued development and expansion of the trail system. With a prioritization
requested, 67% favored completion neighborhood park system while 57% favored the trail
system. There was also discussion regarding how much the citizens would be willing to increase
there taxes per year to fund these projects. 37% favored $20/year, 28% didn't want any increase,
14% favored $40/year. Further review of these numbers will be needed if a bond issue is ever
considered in funding parks and trails.
Marty stated there will be a meeting with John Von de Linde and other Anoka County Park Staff
on December 12, 1996. This meeting is open to anyone interested. Marty will be attending this
meeting. Brian will also try to attend.
Marty is working on a $100,000 grant for a trail along Elm Street and a crossover at 49. This is
due March 1, 1997.
At the last park board meeting, the proposed trail along Marshan Lake that was originally defined
in the CPP was abandoned in favor of alternative routes that were recommended by the trails
committee on November 26, 1996.
Brian volunteered to work on developing a trail map.
Further discussion on developing more firm objectives and other goals for the trails committee
was done. Marty would like to have Rose Soler(Vadnais Heights) attend our next meeting to
give us more information on the role of their trail committee. Laura will contact her.
Next meeting date was scheduled tentatively for January 28, 1997, 6:30 PM at P&R building.
