City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> � May 4 , 1998 <br /> Kite Day, Saturday, June 6, 1998 at Rice Lake Elementary. He <br /> invited the Park Board to attend. <br /> Rick also noted the hiring of Liz Bursack, part-time Program <br /> Supervisor. He indicated that Ms . Bursack is already working on <br /> summer programs and he is looking forward to working with Ms . <br /> Bursack. <br /> Rick stated that the summer brochure would be mailed out the <br /> beginning of June. <br /> PARKS DEPARTMENT UPDATE : <br /> Rick gave a brief overview of a memo from Mike Hoffman, General <br /> Maintenance, that summarized the April projects . Rick noted the <br /> installation of a new Kid Builders play structure at Sunrise Park <br /> on Saturday, April 25, 1998 . He stated that Staff will be <br /> installing a 2-5 age appropriate structure as well as a kid <br /> timber retaining system around the existing swing sets . Rick <br /> indicated the entire project would be completed by mid-May. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Lake Park Business District-Rick explained that the developer, <br /> Glen Rehbein, has decided not to pursue this development at this <br /> time. <br /> Chair Lindy asked if the project had been put on hold. He <br /> indicated that the City did need a trail connection there and the <br /> Park Board needed to remember that. <br /> History of Birch Park Dedication -Rick explained that after <br /> reviewing past Park Board minutes the following information was <br /> gathered relating to the dedication of Birch Park: <br /> At the March 2, 1987, Park Board meeting Mr. Baumann moved <br /> to recommend to Council acceptance of park dedication as <br /> presented this evening and outlined on the 3/2/87 drawing. <br /> The Park Board understands that the final grading of the <br /> park area will be completed at the beginning of the project, <br /> although the park may not be accessible until development to <br /> this area occurs . The Park Board also understands that the <br /> dedication is for the entire approximately 55 acres (40 <br /> acres originally proposed and 15 acres add on as recommended <br /> by the City Engineer) . Mr. Ken Johnson seconded the motion <br /> which carried unanimously. <br /> Rick explained that the existing Birch Park area encompasses a <br /> total of 5. 5 acres, which is consistent with the 10 percent <br /> required land for park dedication.
