Indoor Soccer:
We completed accepting registration for this program. Last season we had 18 teams
registered for this program. We accommodated 19 teams for this season. The season is
over half over and operating smoothly.
Adult Softball:
We are currently accepting registrations for the upcoming season. The registrations
already received in my office are on par with previous years, but we have received more
phone inquiries then in past years. It will be attempted to have forty men's teams and
sixteen co—rec. team's. With registration now complete, we have 40 men's and 12 co—
Rec. teams for the summer softball season. We are up four teams from the previous year.
Marketing news:
The summer brochure is currently being worked on. We advertised in the Centennial
School District's publication"Observer". We anticipate on advertising in this publication
periodically throughout the year.
Other News:
Earth Day Celebration was held last Saturday, April 25. The weather was terrific and
countless number of people attended this event. I do know that over 950 hot dogs were
served to people in attendance. The Parks and Recreation Department had a display
booth that was popular. Staff handed out information regarding our programs that are
offered this summer.
Kite Day is just around the corner. This event will be held on Saturday, June 6 in the
morning. 250 donated kites will be handed out to residents. This is a terrific way for
people to meet our parks and recreation staff and enjoy flying a kite.
Part—Time Recreation Programmer:
Liz Bursack was hired a short time ago and is already providing essential services for the
department and most of all the residents. This summer Liz will be operating the Open
Playground, Traveling Playground, Soccer"fundamentals", Sports Zone, Wild Away For
A Day Trips and Pre-School Playtime programs. Along with these programs, she is
already working on a fall lineup. I am looking forward working with Liz.
Starting with this update,Liz and I will combine our updates for the Park Board. It is
believed this will be more convenient for the Park Board.
LINO LAKES PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
"We are working hard so you can play"
' REF:park board.986
