Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
7204 Lake Drive
C I I
- O F Lino Lakes, MN 55014
( KE (612) 780-1885 Fax (612) 784-7227
April28, 1998
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Mike Hoffman, General Maintenance—Parks Lead
SUBJECT: April Parks Maintenance Update
April as always has been an extremely busy month. Following is a short summary of some of
the projects we have been working on during April.
1. Hiring of Seasonal Maintenance Staff:
Three returning seasonals began work on April 13th. Their primary responsibilities
are mowing and trimming of parks and athletic field maintenance and preparation.
Two additional seasonals have been hired and will begin on June 8a'.
2. Sunrise Park P14y round:
On Saturday, April 25t`a group of neighborhood volunteers along with City staff and
a certified installer installed a new Kid Builders play structure. The entire 5-12 age
appropriate structure was installed in just over 8 hours. In addition we will be
installing a 2-5 age appropriate structure as well as a kid timber retaining system
around the existing swing sets. We hope to have the entire project completed by mid
May.
3. Athletic Field Maintenance and Preparation:
A considerable amount of time has been spent preparing athletic fields for spring and
summer recreation programs.
4. Energizing Irri atg ion Systems:
We have begun to energize our irrigation systems and hope to have them fully
operational by May 1 .
5. Toro 325-D Delivered:
Our new Groundsmaster mower was delivered on April 17. It is a much needed
addition to our mower fleet.
Those are the major highlights for April and we have not even begun mowing, it is going to be a
busy summer indeed.
4/28/98
sw/mike/April Parks Maintenance Update.doc
