Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department --� 7204 Lake Drive (-MKESI ..:: Ci T Y;A O F Lino Lakes, MN 55014 (� (612),780-1885 Fax (612) 784-7227 April 30, 1998 TO: Park Board Members FROM: Rick DeGardner, Parks and Recreation Director SUBJECT: History of Birch Park Dedication After reviewing past Park Board minutes the following information was gathered relating to the dedication of Birch Park: At the March 2, 1987 Park Board meeting Mr. Baumann moved to recommend to Council acceptance of park dedication as presented this evening and outlined on the 3/2/87 drawing. The Park Board understands that the final grading of the park area will be completed at the beginning of the project, although the park may not be accessible until development to this area occurs. The Park Board also understands that the dedication is for the entire approximately acres (40 acres originally proposed and 15 acres add on as recommended by the City Engineer). Mr. Ken Johnson seconded the motion which carried unanimously. The existing Birch Park area encompasses a total of 5.5 acres, which is consistent with the 10 percent required land for park dedication. It appears that all amenities constructed in the park were taken from other designated fund dollars or the General Fund. Regarding the Birch Street underpass, the City contributed $31,989 from Park Dedication funds. This was approved at the September 8, .*$ Council meeting.
