CITY O F
IN "KE
Parks and Recreation Department
Memorandum
DATE: 2/24/98
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Barry Bernstein, Recreation Program Supervisor
SUBJECT: Program Update
I have enclosed a brief program update for your review. If at any time you have a
question or a comment, please contact my office at 780-3782,Ext. 178.
Winter program Update:
^ Warminghouse Shelters:
We opened up on January 1 and closed February 15a'. At the present time, I am
completing the end of the season report. It is anticipated to have this report to you by the
next Park Board meeting.
Snack and Skate:
These outdoor lessons are popular with parents and participants. For the last class, we
had to secure indoor ice at the Centennial Sports Arena.
Family Open Gym:
Each week this program is growing in popularity. This is a drop in program. For one
small fee of$5 per family, they can enjoy several gym games. It will be looked into for
additional family activities.
Dance Class:
The Department has contracted out a dance studio for instructors of this program. The
relationship has worked well. The spring session will see improvements to the course
description and program content.
Softball Pitching Clinic:
I am amazed on how popular this program is. This winter we had to make an additional
session for this program. The instructor is outstanding and the participants are
^ responding to her teaching techniques. Due to the popularity, we added a spring session.
PARK, RECREATION, & RECYCLING DEPARTMENTS
7204 Lake Drive • Lino Lakes, Minnesota • 55014
Phone: 617-780-1885 • Fax: 612-784-7227
