City of Lino Lakes
Quail Ridge Neighborhood Meeting
January 29, 1998
The January 29, 1998 Quail Ridge Neighborhood Master Planning
meeting was called to order at 7 : 30pm at the Centennial Fire
Station.
Park Board Members present were George Lindy and Paul Montain.
Also in attendance were Jeff Schoenbauer, Brauer and Associates,
Rick DeGardner, Parks and Recreation Director, Sandie Wood,
Office Manager, Parks and Recreation Department.
Rick DeGardner introduced himself and Jeff Schoenbauer and
welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Jeff said he would like to discuss this park area and come up
with a wish list of what the residents want in their park. From
the wish list he will draw 2-3 concept plans and meet again with
the residents . At that time residents will tell Jeff what they
like in the concept plans and then Jeff will be able to do a
final master plan for the Quail Ridge Park.
Jeff explained the service area is about a 1-2 mile radius around
the park. He talked about the trail corridor, wetlands in the
park, the trees, play equipment, hard courts and seating areas .
He also mentioned that it was important to be sensitive to the
people living around the park.
Kirk Corson, 6662 Ruffed Grouse Road expressed his concerns
about the bridge. He said it needs guard rails because water
does flow under it in the spring. He also had concerns about
the culvert.
Some of the concerns other residents had were attracting
teenagers to the cleared out area and the park having lights .
They were worried about losing the wildlife setting in the park.
They wanted to know if it was necessary to have parking,
lighting, and couldn' t the residents just use the park in a near _
area. Another resident wanted to know why the trail by the
bridge had to be continued if the Birch Street trail was going
to be completed. Some expressed they did not want a trail
through the neighborhood. They feel it attracts strangers and
vandals . George suggested the residents go to Country Lakes
Park to see a good example of brushing out a park.
Jeff explained the trail system should be completed to serve the
people in the backside of the park. He felt that increased
trail use, by the residents, would deter criminals from coming
into the neighborhood. Rick asked how people were going to get
into the park and should the bridge be abandoned.
