NEIGHBORHOOD PARK <br /> Use. Neighborhood parks are the basic unit of the park system and often function as the social <br /> focus of the neighbored. Typically, they are;developed for both active and passive <br /> recreational activities geared specifically for neighborhood use. <br /> Although historically developed for those between the ages of 5 and 17,recent trends in <br /> recreation clearly illustrate the need to accommodate a much wider variety of and user <br /> groups, particularly adults, the elderly, and special populations. Additionally, consideration must <br /> also be given to the specific recreational'needs of the particular neighborhood in which a park is <br /> being developed. <br /> Active recreational activities, such as,field gars, court.gs, crafts,playground apparatus, <br /> skating;,etc. should be developed for use-by ay de va y-of r-groups.
