COUNCIL MINUTES NOVEMBER 10, 1997 <br /> Ms. Anderson added that the Ladies Auxiliary has complied with all of the requirements of the <br /> Gambling Ordinance, including the requirement to donate one-tenth its net profits for the direct ~' <br /> benefit of residents of Lino Lakes. The Auxiliary donates to the Community Food Shelf, <br /> Centennial Fire District, local Girl Scouts, Forest Lake soccer program,both the Forest Lake and <br /> the Centennial High School class party, and local residents in need. <br /> Council Member Kuether moved to approve renewal of the Lawful Gambling License for Circle- <br /> Lex VFW Post No. 6583, Ladies Auxiliary. Council Member Neal seconded the motion. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> REMINDER,Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update Task Force Meeting,Thursday, <br /> November 20, 1997 <br /> REMINDER, Final 1998 Budget Work Session,Tuesday,November 18, 1997, 5:00 P.M. <br /> Proclamation -Mayor Landers asked Mr.Schumacher to read the following Proclamation: -- -- <br /> WHEREAS, over half a million Americans will die this year from alcohol, <br /> tobacco and other drug-related causes; and <br /> WHEREAS, every man,woman and child in America pays nearly $1,000 <br /> annually to cover the costs of unnecessary health care, extra law enforcement, <br /> auto accidents, crime, and lost productivity resulting from substance abuse; and �.. <br /> WHEREAS, every person in the State of Minnesota is affected by alcohol, <br /> tobacco and other drug abuse; and <br /> WHEREAS,prevention and treatment efforts have made major gains in reversing <br /> the trend toward efforts to reduce demand for alcohol and other drug use; and <br /> WHEREAS, the color red had been chosen to represent individual and community <br /> commitment to efforts to reduce demand for alcohol and other drugs in our <br /> communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, businesses, government, law enforcement, schools, religious <br /> institutions, service organizations, neighborhoods, youth, senior citizens, and <br /> other individuals are encouraged to demonstrate their commitment to held reduce <br /> and prevent alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse by wearing and/or displaying <br /> the color red during Minnesota Chemical Health Week; <br /> BE IT RESOLVED,that November 17 - 23, 1997 be declared Minnesota <br /> Chemical Health Week in the City of Lino Lakes; and <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Honorable Mayor John Landers and the �.. <br /> City Council of Lino Lakes support the activities sponsored by the Minnesota <br /> 14 <br />
