Ms. Bartell indicated that the Administration <br />27 Department receives the permit application, reviews the proposal for conformance to general <br />28 regulations and then passes the proposal onto appropriate staff for further review for impacts to the <br />29 City and safety concerns. In this case, the application was reviewed by the Public Safety <br />3o Department and Director Swenson will report on their findings. <br />31 <br />32 Public Safety Director Swenson reported on discussions with the event planners. There have been <br />33 three meetings. There are implications and some concern about the bike ride route due to a detour <br />34 of cars from Birch Street. At this time he feels there is an adequate plan in place for public safety <br />35 considerations. He noted that there will inevitably be complaints about this situation and traffic <br />36 related to the Birch Street detour. He reviewed the bike ride route (long and short). In providing <br />37 public safety personnel along the route, they will be focusing specially on uncontrolled intersections. <br />38 The staff that will be utilized are community service officers, on -duty officers and it probably one <br />39 overtime officer (the cost of the overtime officer would be billed to MS organization). Anoka <br />40 County has agreed to control the intersection of Hodgson and Ash. The plan is to do as little traffic <br />41 control as possible — hopefully staying away from controlled intersection unless needed. He noted <br />
