City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Referendum Meeting <br /> November 19, 1997 <br /> The November 19, 199.7, City of Lino Lakes Park Board Referendum <br /> meeting was called to order at 6 : 03pm, by Rick DeGardner, Parks <br /> and Recreation Director. <br /> Members present were Betty Piper, Paul Montain, George Lindy, <br /> Sharon Lane and Pam Taschuk. Members absent were Kim Sullivan <br /> and Joe Schmidt . <br /> Also present were Jeff Schoenbauer, Brauer and Associates, Jon <br /> Gurban, Executive Director, MRPA, Paul Hokeness, Director of <br /> Parks and Recreation, Prior Lake, Rick DeGardner, Parks and <br /> Recreation Director, Barry Bernstein, Recreation Program <br /> Supervisor, and Sandie Wood, Recording Secretary. <br /> Rick made introductions to the Park Board Members and turned the <br /> meeting over to Jeff . <br /> Jeff started by saying the committee needs to: <br /> 1 . Understand what the community wants . <br /> "1 2 . Establish base common point and vision. <br /> 3 . Create a citizen task force . <br /> 4 . Assess needs . <br /> 5 . Develop referendum plan. <br /> 6 . Prepare comprehensive cost study and schematic plan. <br /> 7 . Communicate initial plan with public. <br /> 8 . Make adjustments based on public input . <br /> 9 . Communicate final plan with public. <br /> 10 . Undertake referendum. <br /> 11 . Follow through. <br /> Jon Gurban then did a slide presentation. He said if a <br /> referendum fails it usually takes 5 years to do another one . <br /> He said you need to take the opportunity to develop the future of <br /> the community. Some of the points of the presentation were: <br /> Opportunities : <br /> Turn dreams into reality <br /> Increase and solidify community support <br /> Improve profiles <br /> Create positive staff morale <br /> Strengthen professional ties <br /> Learn new skills <br /> Display skills <br /> "Energize" <br /> 1 <br />
