CIT*LK
OF
INE
December 29, 1997
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Rick DeGardner
SUBJECT: Park Dedication Ordinance Review
At the December 1, 1997 meeting, staff was requested to check
with several surrounding cities to compare our Park Dedication
Ordinance.
Enclosed are two surveys . The first summarizes the Park
Dedication Ordinances for 46 cities . The second survey outlines
Park Dedication Ordinances of seven surrounding communities .
Please note Cottage Grove' s Park Dedication Ordinance . As a
general rule, Cottage Grove requires Park Dedication of 10 per-
cent of the gross acreage to be developed; in addition, a
recreational facility charge of $150 per lot is collected. If
there is no land dedication, the cash park dedication is
currently $550 per lot for single family units and $120 per
bedroom for multi-family units . If a portion of the land is
dedicated, the recreational facility charge is collected on the
lots or homes equal to the percentage of land dedicated, and the
$550 per unit or $120 per bedroom for the remaining units .
Cottage Grove has developed, to date, at an overall density of
2 . 66 units per gross acre.
The second survey outlines Park Dedication Ordinances of seven
surrounding cities .
Based on information gathered from the two surveys, it appears
that Lino Lakes Park Dedication Ordinance is comparable to
surrounding communities as well as on a state wide basis .
n
PARK, RECREATION, FORESTRY, & RECYCLING DEPARTMENTS
7204 Lake Drive • Lino Lakes, Minnesota • 55014
Phone: 617-780-1885 • Fax: 612-784-7227
