COUNCIL MINUTES OCTOBER 12, 1998 <br /> watermain facilities to serve Behm's Century Farm 5th Addition. The first phase of this project <br /> extended trunk utilities to Thomas Street. This phase extends trunk utilities north and west to <br /> Pinto Lane. Council approved the plans and specifications for this project on July 27, 1998. <br /> Council action is required to award a construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder. <br /> The results of the bid opening for this project are as follows: <br /> S.R. Weidema, Inc. $ 94,014.90 <br /> Northdale Construction Co. $ 97,943.77 <br /> Ro-So Contracting $115,835.00 <br /> Barbarossa and Sons $145,394.50 <br /> Engineer's Estimate $110,627.00 <br /> The low bid is approximately 15%below the Engineer's Estimate for this project. <br /> Mr. Powell stated that funding for this project will be provided by the Sanitary Sewer and Water <br /> Area and Unit Assessments charged to the Behm's Century Farm subdivision. The proposed <br /> schedule for the project is as follows: <br /> City Council Awards Bid October 12, 1998 <br /> Construction Begins October 19, 1998 <br /> Completion Date November 13, 1998 <br /> Staff recommended Council adopt Resolution No. 98 - 157. <br /> Council Member Bergeson moved to adopt Resolution No. 98 - 157, as presented. Council <br /> Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Resolution No. 98 - 157 can be found at the end of these minutes. <br /> Consideration of Awarding Contract for Planting Boulevard Trees,Marty Asleson-Mr. <br /> Asleson stated the City requires developers to escrow dollars to plant a boulevard tree in front of <br /> each house that is built. Three (3) quotes were received. The low bid was received from <br /> Midwest Landscapes. The quote was to plat 150 trees for a total of$24,315.37. Upon approval, <br /> a contract will be signed ensuring the work. Work is to be completed by the end of October, <br /> 1998. <br /> Staff recommended approval of contract for planting boulevard trees. <br /> Council Member Lyden moved to approve the contract for planting boulevard trees with <br /> Midwest Landscapes in the amount of$24,315.37. Council Member Dahl seconded the motion. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 5 <br />
