Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department 7204 Lake Drive C_ I T O F Lino Lakes, MN 55014 N KE (651) 780-1885 FaX (651) 784-7227 SNOW REMOVAL - TRAILS POLICY PURPOSE: The City of Lino Lakes maintains over 11 miles of trails for the enjoyment of Lino Lakes residents. The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the snow removal from trails. Every attempt will be made to provide a safe and enjoyable trail surface. This policy has been developed based upon the recognition that there are limited community resources. It also recognizes the inherent nature and variability of winter conditions. DESCRIPTION: The following is the trail snow removal policy: 1. Trail plowing will begin when the snow depth exceeds 2 inches or the snow has subsided. 2. Recognizing limited resources, trail clearing will occur during regularly scheduled shifts, Monday through Friday. Overtime will not be expended to clear trails during non-work hours. Scheduled work hours may be adjusted if resources permit. 3. Areas where snow must be hauled away will wait until additional personnel and equipment is available to assist. 4. Maintenance staff will attempt not to clog residential driveways. The operator will not clear areas that are blocked or drifted in as a result of the snow clearing operations on designated trails. 5. The City will not repair minor sod damage as a result of plowing or blowing. Sod replacement will be done at the discretion of the Parks and Recreation Director. 6. The City will not be responsible for sand removal or salt damage from snow that has been moved from roadways to trails to yards. 7. Breakdown of equipment will result in stoppage of this program until repairs are made. Every attempt will be made to continue the program after the repairs are made. 8. Due to mechanical limitations of equipment and trail irregularities, trails will not be cleared or maintained at dry pavement level. Materials such as sand and salt will not be used. Surface irregularities and slippery conditions may result.
