n <br /> Council Member Neal introduced the following ordinance and moved its <br /> adoption: <br /> CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> COUNTY OF ANOKA <br /> ORDINANCE NO.04-98 <br /> AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD, <br /> CHAPTER 217 OF THE LINO LAKES CITY CODE <br /> The City Council of the City of Lino Lakes hereby ordains as follows: <br /> Chapter 217, Environmental Board is hereby established as follows: <br /> 217. Environmental Board <br /> 217.01 Purpose. The purpose of this chapter is to provide aid and advice <br /> to the council in its efforts to encourage productive and enjoyable harmony between people <br /> and their environment; to promote efforts which will prevent or eliminate damage to the <br /> environment and stimulate the health and welfare of people; to enrich the understanding of <br /> the ecological systems and natural resources important to the city; to advise the City in the <br /> use and management of its natural resources in order to preserve and enhance the <br /> environmental amenities for present and future residents, and to improve and insure a <br /> lasting quality of life within the city. <br /> 217.02 Establishment. The Lino Lakes Board on Environment, <br /> hereinafter referred to as the Board, is hereby established. The Board shall operate in <br /> accordance with Chapter 210. <br /> Membership of the Environmental Board shall consist of seven (7) members who shall be <br /> appointed by the Mayor with City Council approval, for three (3) year terms commencing <br /> on January Is'. Terms shall be staggered so that no more than one-half of the members' <br /> terms expire at one time. Both the original and successive appointee shall hold their <br /> respective offices until their successors are appointed and qualified. Vacancies during the <br /> term shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointments are made for the <br /> unexpired portion of the term vacated. Every appointed member shall before entering <br /> upon the discharge of his duties, have taken an oath that he will faithfully discharge the <br /> duties of his office. <br /> Page I <br />
