n Council Member Neal introduced the following ordinance and moved its adoption: CITY OF LINO LAKES COUNTY OF ANOKA ORDINANCE NO.04-98 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE ENVIRONMENTAL BOARD, CHAPTER 217 OF THE LINO LAKES CITY CODE The City Council of the City of Lino Lakes hereby ordains as follows: Chapter 217, Environmental Board is hereby established as follows: 217. Environmental Board 217.01 Purpose. The purpose of this chapter is to provide aid and advice to the council in its efforts to encourage productive and enjoyable harmony between people and their environment; to promote efforts which will prevent or eliminate damage to the environment and stimulate the health and welfare of people; to enrich the understanding of the ecological systems and natural resources important to the city; to advise the City in the use and management of its natural resources in order to preserve and enhance the environmental amenities for present and future residents, and to improve and insure a lasting quality of life within the city. 217.02 Establishment. The Lino Lakes Board on Environment, hereinafter referred to as the Board, is hereby established. The Board shall operate in accordance with Chapter 210. Membership of the Environmental Board shall consist of seven (7) members who shall be appointed by the Mayor with City Council approval, for three (3) year terms commencing on January Is'. Terms shall be staggered so that no more than one-half of the members' terms expire at one time. Both the original and successive appointee shall hold their respective offices until their successors are appointed and qualified. Vacancies during the term shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointments are made for the unexpired portion of the term vacated. Every appointed member shall before entering upon the discharge of his duties, have taken an oath that he will faithfully discharge the duties of his office. Page I
