There are many people on LaMotte Drive that really don't care what happens "down there."In a
recent conversation with a neighbor who not only signed the petition but said yes to helping with
construction, we were told"we don't know anything about a playground."
Children can play here, numerous games can be played there without another playground
equipment development. Centerville Laurie LaMotte Park is currently under development and
playground equipment under consideration- and this is a considerably larger and long-standing
community park in close proximity. The future development of Rice Creek Chain of lakes Park
and trails is another gigantic change that we need to see how it impacts our parks area(s) and-
what will be requested next in this small area should a playground be approved? It makes you
realize that our road being in such bad shape, city water, area lakes water quality, as well as the
plan processed a few years back for the building of homes on this land as real issues and we
realize not of the Parks Dept., but sadly of lesser priority.
So our request is to table until we know what Centerville will do(unless this is under bargaining
already),reconsider, and if all else fails, could the construction please be as close to the LaMotte
Circle residents who want this as possible so that those who have earned the beauty and quiet
(we are not the only opposed)can continue to enjoy it? Even with additional trees requested on
the Circle side, which will offset it from their homes, it will still be much more visible on
LaMotte Drive.
2. To continue with things Lino Lakes considers a lesser priority, we are also active with Peg
Smith and the Lino Lakes Senior Center. Upon trying to call the center today, we find that they
no longer have a phone!! When you know what senior centers are doing for communities and
how important this service is, it's mind boggling that our community is so unsupportive. Peg has
and continues to do an outstanding job in her position and the fact that her dinners bring in
hundreds, plus the fact that Lino is well known for its senior activities should make any city
council proud. If we want to attend an activity that Peg has lined up, we better do so in advance
because everything she does is filled to capacity almost at first announcement. She has a special
skill and personality that's needed to handle the organization and follow-through of anything she
plans from Tai Chi Chau classes to trips to Germany!
Every hour, we all get a little older. We really need to know how important this service is.
Can't something be done to re-install a phone and support Peg in the terrific job she does?
Thank you for your indulgence.
