yr
Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
7204 Lake Drive
CITY O F Lino Lakes, MN 55014
N KE (651) 780-1885 Fax (651) 784-7227
June 1, 1999
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director
SUBJECT: Discussion of Behm's Century Farm Park
The Park Board requested that this item be placed on this month's agenda.
Enclosed is a revised plan for Behm's Century Farm Park. Note the proposed residential lots
along Mustang Lane have been reduced to four. The developer has discussed the concerns of the
two existing residences and they have indicated support for the revised concept plan. There was
also concern about homeowners located on Pony Court that requested a trail access to the park.
This has also been accomplished. The two homes on the east side of Mustang Lane are currently
up for sale. A full disclosure of this proposed plan will ensure that any potential homeowners are
aware of this situation.
The developer has indicated that he will commit to the development of the park that was
discussed at the May Park Board meeting. Jeff Schoenbauer and I are in agreement that the
proposed concept plan is something that we could support to accelerate the development of
Behm's Century Farm Park. However, any agreement to reduce the existing size of this park
area is directly related to the future park to the north of the Behm's Century Farm Development.
We need to be very clear that the reason we are able to reduce the size of Behm's Century Farm
Park is a commitment from the developer and city to provide a more"destination"park as
development to the north occurs. This future park may include a baseball field, basketball court,
hockey rink, tennis courts, etc.
Enclosed is the letter that was sent to all residents who attended the May 3, 1999 Behm's Park
meeting. Mr. Uhde will be present at the June Park Board meeting to discuss this proposal in
more detail.
RD:sw
sw/parkbrd/Discussion of Behm's Century Farm Park.doc
