SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 22, 1999 <br /> CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> MINUTES <br /> DATE March 22, 1999 <br /> TIME STARTED 5:01 p.m. <br /> TIME ENDED 6:37 p.m. <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT Council Members Bergeson,Dahl, Lyden,Neal, <br /> Mayor Sullivan <br /> MEMBERS ABSENT None <br /> Staff members present: City Administrator, Linda Waite Smith,Administration Director, <br /> Dan Tesch and Clerk-Treasurer Marilyn Anderson. <br /> The purpose of the meeting was to discuss annual appointments to certain boards and <br /> committees. <br /> Kim explained that"pink"ballots were distributed which,listed the candidates for each <br /> board/committee and the number of positions open along with the terms of the positions. <br /> Economic Development Committee- There are three(3)three-year positions open on <br /> '^ this committee and there are four(4)candidates. Kim explained that Brian Wessel is the <br /> staff representative and should not be lied as candidate. Since that left three(3) <br /> candidates and three(3)positions were own,,it was agreed that Fred Chase,Don <br /> Gorowsky and Howard Juni would fill those positions. <br /> Environmental Board -There,are'two (2)three-year positions open on this board and <br /> there are four(4) candidate ;.Each,Council Member indicated their choice for this board. <br /> J. P. Houchins and Stet Lariyon' eived the most votes. <br /> Park Board There.are three (3)three-year positions open on this board and their are <br /> five (5) candidates. c Council Member indicated their choice for this Board. Paul <br /> Montain, George Lindy and Chris Wesland received the most votes. <br /> Planning and Zoning Board - There are two (2)three-year positions and one (1) one- <br /> year positions open on this board and there are eight(8) candidates. Each Council <br /> Member indicated their choice for this board. Donna Carlson and Sharon Lane received <br /> the most votes for the two (2)three-year terms and Don Dunn received the most votes for <br /> the one-year term. <br /> There was further discussion regarding the outcome of the voting for the Planning and <br /> Zoning Board candidates. Kim polled each Council Member and no one changed their <br /> vote. There was concern about one appointment since that person already serves on <br /> another board. It was agreed that if this candidate accepted the Planning and Zoning <br /> Board appointment,the person would be asked to resign from the other board. If this in <br /> PAGE 1 <br />
