f.P,
Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
7204 Lake Drive
CITY' ; O F Lino Lakes, MN 55014
N KE (651) 780-1885 Fax (651) 784-7227
LApril 26, 1999
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director
SUBJECT: Consider Designating Park Dedication Funds for Sunrise Park Improvements
The Parks and Recreation Department has been working with the Centennial Lakes Little League
Association (CLLLA) to improve the two little league fields at Sunrise Park. Parents, coaches,
and players worked with Park Maintenance staff on April 17 and April 24. Volunteers raked the
'^ infield areas, bagged leaves, and assisted staff with renovating the infield area. This included
reshaping and sodding the pitchers mound area, repairing the match line areas, and installing new
base pegs.
Park Maintenance staff has put forth a tremendous effort including removing the fencing and
players benches and pouring new concrete pads for the bench areas. A new 18" apron was also
poured for the new backstops. CLLLA has committed to installing new backstops and fencing
along the infield out of play lines. Staff will be assembling and installing the player benches
soon. The new bench areas will also be enclosed by fencing.
I am requesting that the Park Board consider designating $5,000 of park dedication funds to off
set the expenses incurred for upgrading fields#3 and#4 at Sunrise Park. This would cover the
costs for the players benches, cement, additional ag-lime, and sod.
RD:sw
sw/parkbrd/Consider Designating Park Dedication Funds for Sunrise Park Improvements.doc
