C/ <br /> .� DATE: 7anuary 1111 <br /> TO: ParK Soard Members <br /> FROM: Liz 8ursacK, Program Supervisor <br /> RE: lggq OPTIONS Program <br /> Learn * Play Belong <br /> The Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department together with the NW Family YMCA presents ... <br /> OPTIONS,a 9-week summer program alternative designed for children in grades K through 5. <br /> OPTIONS provides a place for learning,playing and belonging. The OPTIONS program is coordinated <br /> and staffed by the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department and the NW Family YMCA of Greater <br /> St. Paul. In the OPTIONS program, children have the opportunity to learn new skills,make new friends <br /> and have fun in a safe and caring environment. <br /> The OPTIONS program runs Monday through Friday from June 14 through August 13, 1999. Program <br /> hours are 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Supervision and care is provided throughout the entire day with <br /> programmed recreational and educational activities taking place from approximately 9:00 am—5:00 pm. <br /> Parents have the option of sending their child three,four or five days a week to this program. Fees are set <br /> according to the number of days the child attends the program per week and are paid on a weekly basis. <br /> Estimated weekly fees: 3 days -$95, 4 days-$115, 5 days -$135. The weekly fee includes supervision, <br /> arts and crafts, snacks,and more. A$45 non-refundable program registration fee is required upon <br /> registration. Included in program registration fee: guaranteed placement in the OPTIONS program,field <br /> trips,and an OPTIONS T-shirt. <br /> A typical day at OPTIONS includes large group activities,self-directed games, enrichment classes, <br /> reading and storytelling,arts and crafts,nature and sports. In addition,there are special activities that are <br /> theme related,as each week at OPTIONS is based on a theme. Examples of theme weeks: Search for the <br /> Jurassic, Under the Sea and Dynamic Detectives. <br /> Field trips are also a part of the OPTIONS experience.Weekly field trips are taken to a variety of <br /> educational, recreational,cultural and historic destinations throughout the metro area. Possible field trip <br /> locations: Ft. Snelling, Minnesota Children's Museum, Minnesota History Center,Twins games, etc. <br /> OPTIONS participants are also able to attend the summer"Wild Away for a Day"trips offered through <br /> the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department. An additional fee is charged for these trips as they are <br /> offered separately from the OPTIONS program.Examples of"Wild Away for a Day"trips:Valleyfair, <br /> Horseback riding, MN Zoo, etc. <br /> The OPTIONS program not only provides a variety of educational and recreational activities for <br /> children,but there is also the possibility of providing special enrichment courses with the help of trained <br />
