Lino Lakes EDAC
July 30, 2021
Page 2
manufacturing" businesses. Using base SIC codes the list of businesses is broken down as
follows:
SIC Code
Industry
Number of
Businesses
15-17
Construction
2
20-39
Manufacturing
17
40-49
Transportation, Communication, Gas, Electric services
1
50-51
Wholesale Trade
12
52-59
Retail Trade
2
70-89
Services
3
This indicates a good mix of the businesses/industries that the EDAC has identified for targeting
in future growth. The city currently has 20 firms (per ESRI) that are categorized as manufacturing
with 17 of those represented in the business visitation list. The next largest group is wholesale
trade which does not just include distribution but includes firms that may assemble components
for final distribution or create components for distribution and final assembly.
In addition to research from ESRI identifies there are 37 businesses that have Professional,
Scientific and Tech services using the NAICS codes. These businesses may warrant being
included in the BRE program to work in conjunction with the targeted industries of the EDAC.
The second goal that the EDAC identified as a primary focus was the assisting with workforce
development for the businesses in the community that are experiencing worker shortages. The
list could be used to create an invitee list to host a meeting with county workforce development to
help create and expand programs for the development of talents required for the businesses to
continue to expand.
The EDAC may want to consider having the Anoka County Workforce representative attend an
upcoming EDAC meeting to talk about their services and how a program could be developed to
help the identified businesses. This could be completed prior to the meetings with the businesses
allowing for a better understanding of the potential services.
