„^ MEMORANDUM
Date: August 2, 1995
From: Marty Asleson
To: Lino Lakes Park and Recreation Department
Subject: Brandywood Park Masterplan
This is a follow up on neighborhood input into the Brandywood
Park master-plan. As you recall the Park Board had accepted the
masterplan after several neighborhood meetings and a final
meeting that was advertized to solicit public opinion and
comment. Changes were made to this plan accordingly and the plan
brought before the City Council for approval. This plan was
approved by the council.
Shortly after this council approval the department went to work
on some of the field preparation work. At this time the
residents in the immediate area of the park reacted by attending
a council meeting to show disapproval. Please find attached a
copy of the letter written to the council.
After a few field meetings it was determined that the problem was
not the master-plan that was approved, but the location of a
wetland on the masterplan. This was a problem because of the
intended buffer of trees that we determined to leave and the
location of the trees on the backside of the wetland (which would
screen the residents) , was thought to be needed to be removed by
the residents when they viewed the master-plan.
The wetland was drawn by Jeff Schoenbauer exactly as it was
presented in the final plat description. The field observation
the residents pointed out seems to indicate an inaccuracy in this
plat drawing.
I believe we now have an understanding with the neighborhood that
the trees are to remain, and we are waiting a letter of petition
from the concerned residents to proceed. The mayor requested
that this be resolved before proceeding. I have been informed by
the residents that this letter will be here today or tomorrow.
There are some other items that were discussed and I will bring
this to the Park Board meeting.
