Listed below are the goals the Park Board chose for 1996 . The board also <br /> estimated costs for each project and they are as shown. <br /> 1 . Trails <br /> a. Completing dead end segments (ie Birch Street) <br /> b. Paving existing graded trails <br /> C. Trail connection to Regional Park <br /> d. Equitable trail dedication ordinance <br /> There was a great deal of discussion on trails and $60, 000 <br /> formation of a trail committee. It was decided if <br /> land acquisition was necessary, in the Wenzel Farms <br /> area, it would cost approximately $45, 000 . The board <br /> decided to spend $15, 000 from the general fund plus <br /> $15, 000 from the park dedication fund. <br /> 2 . Birch Park <br /> Purchase a piece of property (peninsula) and create a <br /> trail connection between Birch Park and the northern <br /> portion of Trappers Crossing. <br /> During discussion the Park Board decided they would $ 37, 000 <br /> acquire approx. 1 acre of land at the present time. <br /> They estimated the boardwalk to cost approximately <br /> $28, 000 . <br /> 3 . City Sall Park <br /> a. Playground equipment <br /> b. Ball fields <br /> The Park Board decided to replace some of the play- $ 15, 000 <br /> ground equipment at this park. The old swing should <br /> be able to be put up again with a few minor repairs . <br /> The equipment will be age appropriate for 2-5 year <br /> olds . It was suggested the board look at a trail <br /> and lighting for this park in the future. <br /> 4 . A-3 Complex <br /> Open ended financial commitment for land acquisition. $ 0 <br /> After lengthy discussion on the athletic complex it <br /> was decided to keep pursuing doing a joint venture <br /> with surrounding communities . This is the best way <br /> to acquire grant money for the acquisition of land <br /> '- for the complex. However, members felt they did not <br /> want to put additional money in this project for the <br /> present time. <br />
