LINO LAKES PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT <br /> PROGRAM PLANNING FORM <br /> Program: Swimming Lessons <br /> Season: Summer Year: 1995 Location: Centerville Beach <br /> Time (s) : Morning Mon-Thurs <br /> Possible Conflicts with facilities? <br /> For this program to be offered at this location Anoka County <br /> Parks allowed us to use this facility, but our program <br /> instruction had to be completed prior to the beach opening. <br /> Program goals & Objectives : <br /> This program is the opportunity for young people to <br /> experience lake swimming in a controlled setting. It is <br /> believed with all the water in this and surrounding <br /> communities . Swimming lessons are an important part of <br /> daily life. With the limited indoor pool settings for <br /> lessons it is believed these lessons will be an alternative. <br /> Program Needs and possible impacts : <br /> After the details of when and if these are possible to <br /> operate. A meeting should be set up with the county to see <br /> what will be available for our use at the beach. It should <br /> T also be mentioned how are people going to be admitted from <br /> the gate to the beach. The search for an experienced <br /> instructor will be pursued through advertising and with <br /> contacts from the county. This program is intended to offer <br /> to the residents a new and rewarding experience. <br /> Safety: <br /> After meeting with the county, it will be determined what <br /> safety equipment will be necessary for the park and <br /> recreation department to hold classes at this location. <br /> Possibly the park and recreation department could share or <br /> use safety equipment at the beach. It is being pursued <br /> these classes are American Red Cross Certified. This means <br /> that our instructor must be certified through the Red Cross <br /> and that these classes use guidelines set forth by the red <br /> Cross . <br /> Maintenance: <br /> Anoka County maintains this park. There will be no <br /> maintenance from the park and recreation department <br /> required. <br /> Staff Needs: <br /> It will be very important that the instructor and the <br /> recreation Program Supervisor work closely to ensure this <br />
